Leonardo was originally released with a soft head version which had three different manufacturer label versions on the back. Made in Macau, Made in China and a version with a blank location. Of these, the Macau version is said to be the first to be released. Subsequent releases were all the hard head version and are much more common, all figures are dated 1988. The original soft head weapons are slightly darker and have a semi-translucent look to them. The belt often breaks where the katanas go or at the shoulder straps. Weapons racks were often thrown away and the stars are harder to find.
