Dichelangelo was originally released with a soft head version which had three different manufacturer label versions on the back. Made in Macau, Made in China and a version with a blank location. Of these, the Macau version is said to be the first to be released. Subsequent releases were all the hard head version and are much more common, all figures are dated 1988. The original soft head weapons are slightly darker and have a semi-translucent look to them and his nunchackus were beaded as opposed to a single strand look on later variants. The nunchackus are commonly broken from being bent to put in his belt, the weapons racks were often thrown away and the stars are harder to find.
